Hulu Anime Essentials

After two months gone I am back with something new to share with you guys. Ive recently joined Hulu and Ive decided to go though their anime category; I was pretty impressed with their selection. They have an “anime essentials” list and although they did mention some cool series I kind of wanted to make an “Anime Essentials” list of my own, naming some of my favorite shows and some shows that are just very important in the anime community.

Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon focuses on the magical action-adventures of a teenage girl named Usagi who learns of her destiny as the legendary warrior Sailor Moon; and must band together with the other Sailor Scouts to defend the Earth and Galaxy. This is one of my favorites not only because it is a classic but also because am a sucker for 90s anime aesthetics. I used to watch Sailor Moon as a child and now as an adult it brings back so many memories, the feeling of nostalgia is so real. I think that everyone has watch this series at least once or heard of it! Anime wouldn’t be the same with out this little gem here!

Hunter X Hunter

“Gon Freecss is a young boy living on Whale Island. He learns from “Hunter” Kite, that his father, who he was told was dead, is still alive somewhere as a top “Hunter,” risking his life to seek unknown items, such as hidden treasures, curiosa, exotic living creatures, etc. Gon decides to become a professional Hunter and leaves the island. To become a Hunter, he must pass the Hunter Examination, where he meets and befriends three other applicants: Kurapika, Leorio and Killua. Can Gon pass this formidable hurdle, the Hunter Examination, to become “the Best Hunter in the World?” and eventually meet his father?.” This show has a little bit of everything humor, fighting, slice of life. Its funny because I didn’t choose to watch this series, I walked in on someone watching it and I decided to sit down and then I realized I was sitting for a few hours watching it. I personally think its a really good show and a must on your anime list if you haven’t watched it before!

InuYasha

Kagome, a modern girl from Tokyo, accidentally finds a portal which leads her to the medieval Japan where she meets the half-demon Inuyasha. She decides to help him find a magic crystal and fight the evil demon Naraku. Surprisingly I am very new to this show I just started watching it maybe a week ago and Im so happy that Hulu suggested it to me. Yes I have heard of it and yes I could of tried getting into it sooner but hey better late than never; right?. I completely am in love with this series, everything about it is just perfect! Im so thankful to Hulu for this one!

Samurai Champloo

This show deserves more credit than what it gets, Im not that much into historical anime but then the story is good and so is the art; Im all over it. Surprisingly I knew I was really going to love this series the moment that I started to watch it. This show is about three characters Mugen, Fuu and Jin who end up crossing paths and go in search of a samurai that smells like sunflowers. One of my favorite series is Cow Boy bebop and it so happens both series share the same director; one of my favorite things about this series is definitely the music. Just like Cowboy Bebop it has that Hip-Hop/ Jazz music which I love so much! If you haven’t watched this series please do so; for me lol and tell me how you feel about it!

One Piece

Follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew in order to find the greatest treasure ever left by the legendary Pirate, Gold Roger. The famous mystery treasure named “One Piece”. This is obviously a very popular series and a lot of people have watched and heard of it. To be very honest, Ive only watched a very small portion of this show. Its very good but it has 904 episodes, just like Naruto and many other series thats been around for years it gets hard watching every episode there is and watching new stuff as well ( I work a lot so I have to use my time wisely) I do watch this show from time to time and its something I highly recommend to those who like adventure anime and who have the time to watch every single episode out there.

Bleach

This show is one of the best well put together shows I’ve seen (my personal opinion) just like many series thats been around this show has 366 episodes, not as much as One piece but still up there. You will not regret watching this show if you haven’t “High school student Kurosaki Ichigo is unlike any ordinary kid. Why? Because he can see ghosts. Ever since a young age, he’s been able to see spirits from the afterlife. Ichigo’s life completely changes one day when he and his two sisters are attacked by an evil, hungry and tormented spirit known as a Hollow; during the fight against the Hollow, Rukia is injured and must transfer her powers to Ichigo. With this newly acquired power, so begins Kurosaki Ichigo’s training and duty as a Shinigami to maintain the balance between the world of the living and the world of the dead. I think the story is pretty solid and yesssss it does have filler but then again what show with over 100 episodes doesn’t? sooo give me a break and check it out if you haven’t!

This small list is not about what show is better than the other or anything of that sort; just a small list of series that are very important to our anime community. I think that Hulu has over 100 different anime series and movies; I could of listed all my favorite shows and series that Im soon going to be watching but there is way too many! If you have Hulu and if you watch anime and if you haven’t please check out the anime category. I think they really thought about what shows to put out there and they sure did not disappoint me, theres is also Crunchyroll which is great! I had Crunchy roll for 2 years + but having all these streaming services do add up so at the moment I chose to stick with Hulu. Please share in the comments below, your favorite series whether its a new series or an old one. Until next time Sayonara!
